The project is designed to provide a platform for showcasing the natural beauty of this stunning region while simultaneously addressing the mental health and isolation challenges faced by Armed Forces Veterans. Through the creation of a digital magazine, Town & Dale will inspire tourism, drive local economic growth, and provide an invaluable support network for veterans by connecting them with nature, their peers, and the local community.

Vision and Mission

Vision:

To create an accessible and supportive space for Armed Forces Veterans while promoting sustainable tourism in the North Yorkshire Dales National Park, leveraging the healing power of nature and the beauty of the region to engage both veterans and visitors.

Mission:

Our mission is to combat isolation, promote mental wellbeing, and stimulate the local economy through the publication of a digital magazine and a series of marketing initiatives, including a postcard campaign with QR code stamps, all while supporting local businesses and cultural experiences in the Dales.

Key Objectives

Support Veterans’ Mental Health and Wellbeing: Create a strong, community-focused platform that provides veterans with a supportive space to engage with nature, stay active, and connect with peers through regular excursions, outdoor activities, and volunteer opportunities.

Inspire Sustainable Tourism and Economic Growth: Promote the North Yorkshire Dales as a premier destination for visitors, highlighting local businesses, cultural landmarks, and natural attractions. By romanticising the region through captivating articles and photography, Town & Dale will encourage tourism and economic activity in local businesses.

Utilise Digital Innovation for Engagement: Leverage AI technology, and other digital tools to enhance marketing strategies, facilitate content creation, and optimise engagement with veterans, tourists, and local businesses.

Foster Community Involvement: Involve veterans in the creation and promotion of content, offering them opportunities to contribute through photography, story writing, and fieldwork, helping to showcase their personal connection to the Dales.
